A 51-year-old man was killed in a fatal pedestrian collision early Sunday morning in McKinney, as police continue working to determine what happened and identify the driver and vehicle involved.
Christopher Patel was struck in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 9, 2026, near Stacy Road and McKinney Ranch Parkway, according to the McKinney Police Department.
Police said the incident was reported at approximately 2:10 a.m. after a passerby noticed an individual lying in the westbound lanes of Stacy Road with significant injuries and contacted authorities.
Officers responded to the scene and found Patel suffering from serious injuries. Emergency medical personnel also arrived, but despite efforts to assist him, Patel was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances leading up to the collision remain unclear. Investigators have not yet publicly established how Patel came to be in the roadway or what happened immediately before he was struck.
