The Omaha community is mourning the reported passing of Marina Gonzalez, who died following a fiery vehicle crash on Interstate 80 near South 32nd Street early Monday morning.
According to the Omaha Police Department, the fatal collision occurred shortly after 4 a.m. near the intersection of I-80 and South 32nd Street in South Omaha. Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Responding officers found a sedan fully engulfed in flames after it struck a support structure beneath the South 32nd Street bridge. Authorities reported that Gonzalez was partially ejected from the vehicle during the impact.
Preliminary information from the investigation indicates that the sedan was traveling eastbound on I-80 before turning left and colliding with the bridge support. The force of the crash caused extensive damage to the vehicle, which subsequently caught fire.
