A pedestrian was killed early Wednesday after being struck on the westbound 210 Freeway east of Azusa Avenue, prompting a temporary closure of multiple lanes as authorities investigated the fatal incident.
According to information available from the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was reported in the roadway at approximately 3:30 a.m. on August 12, 2026. The person was reportedly partially blocking the slow lane when the incident was reported.
All westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway east of Azusa Avenue, with the exception of the HOV lane, were temporarily blocked while emergency crews and investigators responded to the scene.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead following the incident. Authorities have not yet released additional information about the victim’s identity.
It was also not immediately clear whether the vehicle and driver involved in the collision remained at the scene. Investigators are working to determine the sequence of events leading up to the pedestrian’s death and whether another vehicle was involved.
The incident caused disruptions for motorists traveling through the area during the morning hours as investigators worked at the scene.
